DIY Projects โ€” By Difficulty

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ โญ Beginner
Rolled Beeswax Candles
The easiest beeswax project. Roll sheets of foundation wax around a wick โ€” no melting, no molds, no special equipment. Done in 10 minutes. Naturally sweet honey scent.
Supplies: beeswax sheets, wicking, scissors
๐Ÿ’‹ โญ Beginner
Honey Lip Balm
Melt beeswax and coconut oil, add honey and a few drops of essential oil, pour into tubes. Four ingredients, 20 minutes, genuinely excellent lip balm that costs almost nothing to make.
Supplies: beeswax pellets, coconut oil, raw honey, lip balm tubes

Beeswax Food Wraps
Brush melted beeswax onto cotton fabric to create reusable, biodegradable food wraps. A sustainable alternative to plastic wrap. Heat from hands molds it to any container.
Supplies: cotton fabric, beeswax pellets, pine resin, jojoba oil, parchment paper, iron

Native Bee House
A nesting structure for solitary bees โ€” mason bees, leafcutter bees, and others that nest in hollow stems and tunnels. Drill holes of varying diameters (3โ€“10mm) in untreated wood blocks. Mount south-facing, 3โ€“6 feet high.
Supplies: untreated hardwood, drill with 3-10mm bits, mounting hardware
๐Ÿงผ โญโญ Intermediate
Honey & Oat Soap
Melt-and-pour soap base with raw honey, colloidal oatmeal, and beeswax. Produces a genuinely moisturizing bar. The honey gives it a natural golden color without dye.
Supplies: melt-and-pour soap base, raw honey, beeswax, colloidal oatmeal, soap molds
๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ โญโญ Intermediate
Poured Beeswax Candles
Melt beeswax, add a small amount of coconut oil to slow burning, pour into molds or jars. More involved than rolled candles but produces a more finished result. A double boiler is essential โ€” beeswax is flammable at high temperatures.
Supplies: beeswax pellets, wicking, molds or jars, double boiler, thermometer

Mead (Honey Wine)
Honey, water, yeast, and time. The oldest alcoholic beverage in human history, predating wine and beer. A basic mead requires 3 months of patience and very little equipment. An excellent mead requires considerably more of both.
Supplies: raw honey, water, wine yeast, glass carboy, airlock, sanitizer
๐ŸŒฑ โญโญ Intermediate
Bee-Friendly Seed Bombs
Mix clay, compost, and bee-friendly wildflower seeds into small balls. Let dry. Throw into unused patches of ground. Wildflowers establish wherever they land. Good for gifting.

Cut a hexagonal stamp from a sponge or potato. Stamp onto canvas or paper in a honeycomb pattern. Finish with a bee illustration or leave as geometric pattern. A surprisingly satisfying project for all ages.
